Ranking the 10 Best Players in ’22 NBA Playoffs

10 Best Players

Ladies and gentleman, the NBA playoffs are officially here. With the play-in games wrapping up, all the league’s top contenders are gearing up to make a run at NBA immortality. On the game’s largest stage it takes the very best players to rise to the occasion and lead their teams to a championship. This article will rank the 10 Best Players playing this postseason.

  1. James Harden

The newest superstar in the city of brotherly love comes in at number ten, and could have easily been left off the list altogether. James Harden is struggling to shoot over 50 percent while in Philadelphia, closing out the regular season shooting 40% or lower in five of the last six games.

However, Harden remains a phenomenal playmaker, and if he can return back to an MVP level, Philadelphia can make a run at winning the conference.

  1. Trae Young

This article is being written while Young is still alive in the play-in tournament, but regardless of the results, the point guard is not being talked about enough this season. He is the first player to lead the NBA in total scoring and assists since Nate Archibald, and is carrying a Hawks team that is missing its second best player.

  1. Devin Booker

An MVP dark horse, Devin Booker was the driving force behind Phoenix’s record-breaking 2021-22 season. Booker is averaging 26.8 points per game while being the best player on the best team record-wise in the association.

  1. Jayson Tatum

No team was hotter than the Boston Celtics after the all-star break, and their recent success can be heavily attributed to Jayson Tatum. The 24-year-old tied Larry Bird’s mark for most 50 point games in franchise history, and will need to be at the top of his game to upset the Brooklyn Nets in round one.

  1. Luka Doncic

It is a shame to see that Doncic’s availability in the first round series against Utah is in question, especially due to how integral he is to Dallas’ success. Doncic leads the team both as a scorer and a playmaker, and is looking to record his first series win after consecutive losses to the Clippers to begin his career.

  1. Steph Curry

The greatest shooter in NBA history is having an off-season for his standards, as Curry did not even crack the top ten in scoring and battled injuries all year. Despite the struggles, Steph Curry instills fear in the heart of any defense he faces, and has a real shot at earning his fourth ring.

  1. Nikola Jokic

The likely NBA MVP just misses the top three but that is no knock on the fantastic season the Serbian put together. Jokic broke the NBA record for PER while leading Denver in every single basic stat. Denver managed to avoid the play-in games as a six seed with the Joker, and all without Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr.

  1. Joel Embiid

The league’s scoring champion and my personal pick for MVP, Joel Embiid is becoming the most unstoppable force in all of basketball. He is now the first center since Moses Malone to average 30 in a season, and first since Shaq to lead the entire NBA.

  1. Kevin Durant

The Brooklyn Nets’ regular season was not a pretty one, but the team did enough to put themselves in a position to make a playoff run. No player is more important than Kevin Durant, as the 2x Finals MVP continues to be arguably the most unguardable perimeter scorer of all time, and a ring this year will do wonders to his legacy.

  1. Giannis Antetokounmpo

2x MVP and reigning champion Giannis Antetokounmpo stands alone at the top of the list, and is favored to once again represent the east in the NBA Finals. “The Greek Freak” could have easily been in the MVP conversation in the regular season, however it seems as if voter fatigue is already settling in for the future face of the league.

I do not think any team can stop this guy. As long as he is healthy, Milwaukee is my pick to win the NBA Finals.
