With the level of college basketball rising every year I wanted to discuss the topic of the best blue bloods in college basketball. The term blue blood refers to College basketball teams that are at the top of their division and are good notably every year.

Best Blue Bloods in College Basketball

A team such as Duke, Villanova, and North Carolina. Most of the time you will see one of these teams most likely all three invited to the March madness post-season tournament every year being a contender for the championship.

Jayhawks

The Kansas Jayhawks coach Bill self has won two national championships and has an NCAA record of 14 straight regular-season big 12 conference titles. Coach Bill self-had the 18th most wins among Division I coaches in NCAA history and fourth among active head coaches he is also the second most winningest head coach in Kansas history behind Hall of Famer phone Allen and the only Coach in Kansas history to Lee Kansas to multiple NCAA championships.

The Kansas Jayhawks dominates the big 12 making them pone of the best blue bloods. The Jayhawks were also led to four NCAA final four appearances in 2008, 2012, 2018, and 2022, with Champions ships in the ‘08 and ‘22 seasons. In my opinion, because his Jayhawks are a good team, but I do not believe that they are the best blue blood on this list

Tar Heels

The next team on this list on best blue bloods is the North Carolina Tar Heels also known as UNC. The Tar Heels have won six national championships and a retroactively awarded one in 1923 by the Helms Foundation. UNC has been dominating the ACC for years with their quick play style and their consistent offense. UNC led by legendary coach Roy Williams led the Tar Heels to NCAA championships in 2005, 2009, and 2017.

The string of dominance solidified his career as a head coach and boosted the notoriety of UNC. Dominant to this day the University of North Carolina just came up short in the March Madness tournament losing to the Kansas City Jayhawks. No doubt in my mind that UNC is still one of the top blue bloods out there.

Blue Devils

Duke University is high on this list of best blue bloods. Duke has won five national championships all under the coaching of Coach K. Coach K has made a name for himself in college basketball earning a spot in the basketball Hall of Fame. He built his reputation at duke by winning his first national championship in 1991 going back-to-back winning the following year 1992 as well. This dominance continued and said the precedents for Coach K‘s coaching career.

This dominance would continue throughout the years following Coach K‘s next championships which were in 2001, 2010, and 2015. These five championships surrounded by the plethora of players that have been inducted into the NBA through duke university‘s program is proof enough of Duke’s dominance in collegiate basketball, and their deserving spot of top blue blood.
