Way Too Early NCAA Women’s Final 4 Prediction

final 4 prediction

Here is my way too early Women’s Final 4 prediction.

The NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament Selection Show is scheduled to take place on March 15th. It’s only the middle of January so there’s still a lot of basketball left to be played. However, a few teams have stood above the rest as championship contenders in my mind.

I believe the four #1 seeds in the tournament are going to be Stanford, Louisville, South Carolina, and Baylor. Although, I don’t believe all these teams will make a run to the Final 4.

NCAA Women’s Final 4 Prediction: 1 | #1 Stanford University Cardinal

Stanford has left no doubt in my mind that they’re the best team in women’s college basketball this season. The Cardinal are 10-0 and shouldn’t have much trouble taking the Pac 12 regular-season title. There are a lot of good teams in the conference including #9 UCLA, #11 Oregon, and #7 Arizona, but Stanford is just on a different level than these squads in 2021.

Stanford has already defeated all three of these schools this season. The Cardinals beat UCLA by 12, Arizona by 17, and Oregon by 7. No other team in the country has been tested and rose to the occasion like Stanford has thus far.

The Cardinals are going to be a one seed in the tournament and blow through their portion of the bracket. The team has multiple athletes who can score including Haley Jones, Francesca Belibi, and Kiana Williams.

The team is shooting a combined 46.7% from the field. The Cardinals are going to be tough to beat in March.

NCAA Women’s Final 4 Prediction: 2 | #3 NC State

I don’t believe NC State will be a one seed in the NCAA Tournament, but I think they win their bracket as a two seed. NC State will face #2 Louisville on January 17th, but it’s smooth sailing for the Wolfpack following this contest.

I think Louisville will beat NC State on the 17th, but the Wolfpack will have the last laugh by making a run to the Final Four. NC State is composed of a very talented group of basketball players. The Wolfpack dethroned #1 South Carolina by a score of 54-46 in their third game of the season.

Elissa Cunane and Jakia Brown-Turner will need to be big for the Wolfpack in March. Cunane and Brown-Turner have tormented their opponents in the ACC averaging 16.2 and 13.7 points respectively. If these two are on their game, the Wolfpack are hard to beat.

NCAA Women’s Final 4 Prediction: 3 | #5 South Carolina Gamecocks

South Carolina slipped up earlier this season against NC State when they were the first ranked team in the nation. Don’t let this loss fool you into thinking that the Gamecocks aren’t a threat in March.

The team is led by Zia Cooke and Aliyah Boston who could be the best basketball duo in the country. Cooke is the team’s primary scorer averaging 17.4 points per game. Boston still contributes when it comes to points. She’s averaging 13.6 points per game, but the 6’5” forward thrives in the paint.

Boston has pulled down 96 boards this season. 34 of those rebounds have come on the offensive end giving her team extra possessions. South Carolina has a very tough schedule remaining, but the team has seemed very focused after NC State upset them at home.

The biggest date on their remaining schedule is a road matchup in Connecticut against the UConn Huskies. I think South Carolina will beat UConn in this game which will put a lot of momentum on their side heading into the tournament.

NCAA Women’s Final 4 Prediction: 4 | #3 UConn Huskies

It’s hard to count out the Huskies in March. The Connecticut program under Geno Auriemma has won 11 National Championships. The thing that scares me about UConn this year is their strength of schedule.

UConn plays in the Big East Conference and this year’s competition isn’t the best. This isn’t much different than past seasons when UConn competed in the American Athletic Conference. Yet, it’s still important to note when the tournament rolls around.

UConn is going to be very dangerous in the coming seasons with freshman sensation Paige Bueckers, and another four tremendous recruits coming to Storrs next season. I don’t believe that UConn is going to win it all, but I think they’ll find a way to dance to the Final Four.

Bueckers is the key to this UConn team. She’s getting better by the game which should make Huskies’ fans very confident heading into the NCAA Tournament. The South Carolina game is going to tell us a lot about this year’s UConn team.

I think UConn will end up being a two seed in the tournament, but this won’t stop them from making their 21st Final 4 appearance under Geno Auriemma

I think Stanford takes down UConn in the 2021 National Championship Game, but we still have a lot of basketball left to play!
