The G League season is underway and we’re about a quarter of the way through the season. With most teams hitting over 10 games so far, the best teams are starting to separate.
5. Maine Celtics
The Celtics do not have the best record at 8-4, but they have incredible consistency and the best offense in the league. They average the most in almost every offensive stats. They average 122.5 points and 29.8 assists, both top marks in the league.
They are 4th in the league in rebounds with 47.6 and 3rd in free throw percentage with 80%. Not only are they incredible at scoring and shooting from the line, but they are also one of the best three point shooting teams in the G League. They rank 2nd in both three pointers made and three point percentage, with 190 and 38.2% respectively.
4. Memphis Hustle
This team is considered better in the standings, and ranks 2nd in the West. This team is also quite good on the offensive end of the ball. They rank 5th in points per game with 120, 3rd in assists per game with 29, and 4th in field goal percentage with 49.1%.
They have 3 players averaging over 19 points, and superstar young forward Kenny Lofton Jr. averaging 18.3 with 9 rebounds. Vincent Williams Jr. is playing incredible this year, with 19 points, 9 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game.
3. Long Island Nets
The Nets are easily the best rebounding team in the league, being the only team averaging more than 50. They also rank 5th in assists with 27.9, and 3rd in blocks with 6.6 per game. They also hit the most three pointers in the league, just one shot more than the Maine Celtics with 161.
David Duke and Raiquan Gray are strong scorers, with 20 points per game. Most of their rebounds come out of Day’Ron Sharpe, averaging 12.1 per game. He also holds down the paint with 2 blocks, making him an elite defender and rebounder.
2. Cleveland Charge
This team is quite good at 9-2, and rank at the top of the East. However, they just do not fully impress me on defense. Their offense is incredible, with 3 of the best G League scorers in the game. Sharife Cooper sits on top with 26.8, followed by Mamadi Diakite with 24 and Isaiah Mobely with 23.8.
They do not lead in any major statistical category, but their stars are young and score the ball well. What puts them so high is their incredible NBA potential.
1. Stockton Kings
The Kings make the top of this list not only for their record at 11-2, but their efficiency is what makes them the best. They average over 50% from the field, 40% from three, and 83% from the free throw line.
What surprises fans about their success is their lack of scoring starpower. They do not have a single player averaging more than 16.5 points per game, and not one with over 7.5 rebounds. However, their success is spread between a lot of their players, and their record shows the diversity.
