Is Jordan Poole ready to be a franchise player

Jordan Poole

Jordan Poole is a 6’4 194lb Milwaukee native that has become a fan favorite. Poole has been balling out on the biggest stage recently, the NBA Finals. Jordan Poole exemplifies the new generation of combo guards who can score on all 3 levels of the game: around the basket, mid-range, and the 3 pointers. The question becomes, has Poole’s play on the court earned him the opportunity to be a franchise player on a team that desperately needs a player with an electric offense, plays defense at a high level, as well as a high marketing capability? Drafted in 2019 as the 1st round pick #28, Poole has begun his professional career as a Golden State Warrior.

What will it take?

For Jordan Poole to become a franchise player, he must do what he does best – score the ball. Being an elite scorer with the full package will catapult his stock. Currently, Poole comes off the bench for the Warriors, with his role being primary ball handling and scoring for the second unit. This role isn’t a discredit to Poole because the first unit contains three Hall of famers: Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green. He is tasked with carrying that unit and he has shown to be very capable of handling his responsibility to his team. For Poole to be effective in the offense, he must have the ball in his hands and be able to create shots for himself and his teammates. Poole’s movement without the ball is almost identical to his current teammate, Steph Curry. This causes Poole to be very versatile and adaptive, allowing his coaching staff to take full advantage of his offensive capabilities.

Surrounded By Greatness

The Golden State Warriors have been plagued with injury since the 2019 finals and have been rebuilding the team. Jordan Poole got his opportunity to shine while Warriors key players like Klay Thompson and Steph Curry – whom was in and out with injury. His biggest opportunity came when Kelly Ubere Jr. got injured, as they play a similar position. Poole started to mesh with other key players on his team like Draymond Green which is when he learned a lot of the techniques that he executes on the court today. Klay Thompson and Steph Curry cheered him on from the sidelines, which was a big motivation to Poole as legends believed in him which built the necessary confidence that he needed.

Post Season Play

The biggest question surrounding superstars in today’s game is how they will perform in the postseason. This is Poole’s first season in the playoffs, and he has been playing a pertinent role in every game thus far. Poole scored 30, 29 and 27 PPG against the Denver nuggets leading the team to three victories. Jordan Poole showed out during his playoffs debut and continued to be an asset to his team helping aid them into the NBA Finals. The Golden State Warriors are currently contending for an NBA championship, against the Boston Celtics.
