Josh Giddey and Evan Mobley Named NBA Rookies of the Month

Josh Giddey of the Oklahoma City Thunder and Evan Mobley of the Cleveland Cavaliers are your Rookies of the Month for November. Mobley won the award for the Eastern Conference while Giddey took home the honors representing the Western Conference. With plenty of talented youth in the NBA, these players had to work hard to receive this award.

These are two young players with high ceilings, and this award is only the beginning of many more individual accomplishments to come.

Josh Giddey

With the award, Giddey is only the second Thunder player to win Rookie of the Month.

Giddey was productive in November with just over 10 points per game. The 19 year old added 7.2 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game between the end of October and November. The 6’8 shooting guard combines skill with strength making him a triple-double threat.

Once Giddey becomes more consistent as a shooter, more options in his game will begin to open up. He still is figuring things out in that department in the NBA, but the ceiling is high for Giddey.

He was fantastic from a playmaking perspective. He led all fellow rookies in assists during the month, which is even more impressive when you remember that we are not talking about a point guard here.

At age 19, Giddey became only the third teenage player in history to record over 100 rebounds and 100 assists in his first 20 games played. He is a tremendous building piece for the Thunder as they look to develop a winner in the future.

Evan Mobley

The Cavaliers love what they have in Evan Mobley. The 20 year old big man posted 14.5 points and 8.2 total rebounds per game while shooting 49 percent from the field. He added just under two blocks per game.

His talent as a rebounder and rim protector is already immense, and one can only wonder what kind of potential he has in those departments.

Mobley led all rookies in blocks and double-doubles during the month. He already has three games with 4 or more blocks as well. Mobley has already developed a reputation as a feared presence underneath the rim.

Despite dealing with a sprained right elbow, Mobley was still effective for a surprisingly competitive Cleveland team to open the 2021 campaign. The Cavs would not be where they are at without Evan Mobley.

The Potential for Mobley and Giddey

Both of these young players are going to be stars in the NBA. Despite playing different positions and doing different things on the court, their values for their teams have been similar.

It is incredible how well each has played at such a young age. The Cavaliers and Thunder can build around these two young studs for years to come.

Congratulations to Evan Mobley and Josh Giddey on winning the Rookie of the Month Awards.
