Ole Miss has struggled to begin the year, as they have gone just 6-6 overall on the year. The Rebels have also lost three straight games, and they are not projected to be one of the better teams in the SEC this season.

Mississippi State comes into this game with an overall record of 11-3, but things haven’t gone well of late. The Bulldogs have lost two games to begin conference action, and this has turned into a must-win game on Saturday.

The college basketball odds for this game will have the Mississippi State Bulldogs as betting favorites over their rivals in this one.

Rebels Looking For Offense

The overall numbers say that Ole Miss is scoring right around 70 points per game, but they haven’t been that effective of late. Ole Miss hasn’t scored more than 65 points in their last five games, and they are a team that is searching for answers on that end.

Guard Matthew Murrell is leading the team with 14.4 points per game, and they are going to do most of their damage on the perimeter. The Rebels can be tough when they are making shots, but that just doesn’t always happen.

Ole Miss just allowed 84 points to Alabama in their most recent game, and they aren’t going to be able to keep this game close unless they shut down the Bulldogs on that end of the floor.

Bulldogs Can Defend

Mississippi State head coach Chris Jans is hoping that his team can turn the page after a rough few games, and he believes that will happen. After a blowout loss to Tennessee, Jans said, “We’ve got to get prepared for another basketball game.”

The Bulldogs are holding opponents to less than 57 points per game this season, but that wasn’t the case in their first two SEC games. Mississippi State has allowed 78 and 87 points in those games, and they are going to have to start getting better defensive effort.

Forward Tolu Smith leads the way for the Bulldogs this season, and he is shooting close to 60 percent. Mississippi State wants to slow this game down and then win by scoring in the paint.

Ole Miss Rebels vs. Mississippi State Bulldogs Head-to-Head

This is not only a rivalry in which the teams and fan bases don’t get along really well, but it’s a rivalry that always seems to produce tight games. Mississippi State leads the overall series, but the Rebels and Bulldogs have split each of the last ten games.

Ole Miss Rebels vs. Mississippi State Bulldogs Prediction

March Madness betting is always full of some big games, and that is the case in this matchup as well. This is one of the better rivalries in the SEC, and both teams are going to be looking for a big win.

Ole Miss has been struggling to win SEC games this season, but they have also been playing some teams close. Look for the Rebels to play well in this game, but they just aren’t going to have enough offense to come away with the win.

Take the Ole Miss Rebels to cover the spread on the road, but it will be Mississippi State that picks up a win in this game.
