Rise of the Utah Jazz

Utah Jazz

The Utah Jazz in recent years have been dominant through the regular season but have failed when it matters most in the playoffs. For the past six years of making the playoffs they have not been able to make it out of the second round. This team was led by shooting guard Donivan Mitchell and center Rudy Gobert.

In the 2022 off season both star players would be traded away, Gobert would be traded to the Timberwolves and Mitchell to the Cavaliers. This would put the Jazz in a perfect position for the next season. With such a young team the ceiling is unknown but the talent for a championship team is there.

Leading Utah Jazz Players

Lauri Markkanen

Markkanen looks like he has made a huge jump this season after arriving at Utah. Markkanen came to the city in the trade with Clevand, while on the Cavs Markkanen averaged fourteen points, five rebounds, and one assist. Now after just a handful of games played in the 2022-23 season he is averaging twenty two points, eight rebounds, and two assists.

Jordan Clarkson

Jordan Clarkson has been a shining star for the Jazz, winning the sixth man of the year award. Clarkson has been holding down the team offensively being the reliable consistent player the Jazz need after losing Gobert and Mitchell. Clarkson has been a great player for the Jazz during the start of this season.

Collin Sexton

Collin Sexton was one of the best additions for the Jazz in the off season. Sexton on the Cavs looked to have great potential and now under Mike Conley’s guidance the Jazz has to start taking large steps in his game. Sexton should do great things for the Jazz in the future.

Will Hardy

The rookie coach for the Jazz has done a tremendous job bringing this team together. With almost a completely new roster Hardy was able to bring these players together and work them into a system that focused heavily on passing and teamwork. This was the best choice for such a young team without a star.

Teamwork

The biggest strength of this Utah Jazz team has to be their ball movement and teamwork. At the moment this team does not have an out right all star, the front office crafted a collection of players that match extremely well with each other and run well together as a team. The Jazz now sit fifth overall in assist compared to years past where they would rank near the bottom of the league.

Although there is still a lot of season left to play, seeing if this young Jazz team can keep up with the juggernauts of the league will be interesting. If this team can stay healthy they will surely be dangerous in the future.
