Saturday’s Must-Watch Games

Saturday’s Must-Watch Games

At this point in the season, the newness of the college basketball season has begun to wear off. We have had a change at the top of the leaderboards with Duke beating Gonzaga, however, they turned around and lost to Ohio State, so Purdue is looking to become the next number one in the nation.

With conference games getting underway in some of the major conferences, Saturday has a jam-packed schedule. Let’s take a look at some of the top games to watch.

Memphis vs. Ole Miss

The Memphis Tigers are currently 5-2 and ranked #18 in the nation, while the Ole Miss Rebels are also 5-2. Memphis comes into this game after suffering a three-point loss to Georgia 79-82. Ole Miss comes into this game with a two-game winning streak on the line after taking down Rider University.

One of the main reasons Memphis is ranked so high is the young star they have in Emoni Bates. The 6’9” freshman is averaging 12 points a game while also contributing three rebounds.

The Rebels count on their senior leadership in Jarkel Joiner. He is currently averaging 15 points, three rebounds, and three assists.

Tip-off for this game is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. eastern time and can be viewed on ESPN 2.

Marquette vs. Wisconsin

The Marquette Golden Eagles are off to a great start with a 7-1 record. As a team, they already have wins against Illinois, Ole Miss, and West Virginia. The Badgers have also got out of the gates well sitting at 6-1. The Badgers have wins against Georgia Tech, Houston, and Texas A&M.

Marquette is led by the duo of Justin Lewis and Darryl Morsell. Lewis is averaging 16 points and eight rebounds. Morsell is averaging 15 points and three assists.

Wisconsin also has a duo that leads their offense in Jonathan Davis and Brad Davison. Davis is averaging 19 points and six rebounds. Davison is averaging 15 points and five rebounds.

Tip-off for this game is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. eastern time and can be viewed on FOX.

Alabama vs. Gonzaga

Alabama against Gonzaga is the only game involving two top 25 teams in the country. Alabama is currently 6-1 and this will be their first time playing against a top team so far this season. Gonzaga, the preseason number one team, has started the season 7-1. After a tough loss to Duke, the Bulldogs struggled to beat Tarleton State.

Jaden Shackelford is currently the leader in the locker room for Alabama. He is averaging 18 points and six rebounds. Jahvon Quinerly and Keon Ellis are both averaging double-digit points so far this season.

Drew Timme is the dominant force for Gonzaga this season. He is averaging 17 points and six rebounds. Julian Strawther, Chet Holmgren, and Rasir Bolton are all averaging double-digit points for the Bulldogs.
