The Rise of the Detroit Pistons

Detroit Pistons

The Detroit Pistons haven’t had a positive season since 2015, the organization hasn’t been a championship contender in over a decade. Although the Pistons are known for being a sub par franchise the rebuild they have constructed could launch them into a championship team in the coming years

The Detroit Pistons have played the draft perfectly putting together a phenomenal young core that is growing quickly. Along with some good trades the team is in a perfect place to grow into a contenter in the league. All that has to happen is the growth of the players on the team.

Cade Cunningham

By far the biggest hope for Pistons fans is the young star Cade Cunningham. After being drafted to the Pistons in 2021 Cunningham suffered an injury at the beginning of the season. After being out of the game for a small amount of time Cunningham came back to show he’ll be a star in this league.

After a slow start and adjustment, Cunningham showed his true basketball skills making the rising stars game. Cunningham averaged 17 points, 5 assist, and 5 rebounds on the season and came in third for the rookie of the year award.

Cunningham brings a new fire to this Pistons team and looks to continue to improve with Detroit. Although he is a great player, the team has many other pieces around Cunningham that will have to continue to improve.

Seddiq Bey

The second option on this young Detroit Pistons team is Seddiq Bey. A solid forward for the Pistons, Bey has an extremely high scoring ceiling. Just last season Bey would show off this scoring ability by dropping 51 points in a game against the Orlando Magic.

Bey is solid on both the defensive and offensive side of the ball and works great with Cunningham running the point. Bey leads by example his tenacity and grit in game shows and helps add to the “Detroit vs Everybody” culture that the team is building.

Isaiah Stewart

The true defender of this young line up, Isaiah Stewart brings something to this team that can not be taught. Stewart lights a fire in the team and does the little things that most people don’t realize contribute a lot to a championship caliber team.

Stewart averaged 8 points and 8 rebounds last season while averaging one block a game. His defensive presence on the court is always felt and is a big part of this team’s growth.

Jaden Ivy

The newest member of this Pistons squad is Jaden Ivy, drafted to the team in 2022 from the University of Purdue. Ivy was a solid guard for Purdue averaging 17 points and 3 assists in his last year there. While it’s unknown how he will play in the NBA at the moment Ivy is sure to help the rise of the Detroit Pistons.
