Top 10 Players in the NBA Right Now, Ranked

The NBA is stacked with talented players. Nearly every team has a star player. The talent across the league seems to be growing every day.

When considering the top ten players in the NBA, there are so many great players to choose from. However, these ten individuals have stood out recently and deserve to be recognized as top NBA talent. Here are the current top ten players in the NBA, ranked.

10. Jimmy Butler

We have seen Jimmy Butler grow into a star player in the NBA. For what he accomplished last season, he deserves a spot on this list. Butler helped the Miami Heat earn the top spot in the Eastern Conference. He led the team all the way to a Game 7 in the Eastern Conference Finals. Butler carried his team in the playoffs, scoring as high as 47 points in one contest.

Jimmy Butler deserves the spot not only because of his talent, but also because of his mentality and all-around skillset. He plays well on both ends of the floor and his mental toughness makes him a more confident player.

9. Anthony Davis

Anthony Davis has had a rough two years, dealing with several injuries and ultimately missing the playoffs as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers last season. Still, there is no denying that when he is healthy, Anthony Davis is a top ten player in the NBA. You could make the argument that he should even be higher.

Davis has elite rim protection and is one of the best defenders in the NBA. What makes Anthony Davis special is that he has the body and strength of a big man, but the speed and skillset of a guard. Anthony Davis can guard any position and give his team 25 points each game on the offensive end. There are few other players who can do that in the NBA.

8. Luka Doncic

The young Mavericks superstar is only 23 years old, and he is already one of the best players in the NBA. Offensively, he can do it all. Luka Doncic is one of the best passers in the league, but he is also a lethal shooter and scorer, especially when he gets hot. He is one of the few players who can single-handedly carry a team to success.

The only things limiting Doncic’s abilities are his conditioning and defensive capabilities. If he improves in those areas, he could easily become the best player in the NBA.

7. Kawhi Leonard

When he is healthy, Kawhi Leonard is a top five player in the NBA, but to be fair, he did not play last season due to an injury. He will have to earn back his ranking as a top-five player.

Leonard has truly developed his mid range shooting and has become an elite scorer in the NBA. Combining that with his defensive ability, Leonard has become one of the best two-way players in the NBA when he is on the floor. He is already a two-time NBA champion and Finals MVP. His resume speaks for itself.

6. Joel Embiid

Joel Embiid is one of the best centers the NBA has ever seen. That is a pretty significant claim, considering all of the great centers that have played across the history of the NBA.

Embiid arguably should have won the MVP last year. He carried the 76ers in spite of the drama surrounding his ex-teammate Ben Simmons and won the scoring title.

Embiid has incredible footwork and he is nearly impossible to guard unless he is double-teamed. That type of offensive prowess has opposing coaches losing sleep thinking about how to defend him.

5. Stephen Curry

Stephen Curry continues to solidify his legacy as an all-time NBA great. Last season, he broke Ray Allen’s record for the most three-pointers in NBA history. He followed that up by winning his fourth NBA title and his first Finals MVP.
Steph Curry is without question the greatest shooter of all time. There should be no doubt in anyone’s mind about that. Curry changed the way the game is played and he has accomplished things that no other player has ever done before.

4. Nikola Jokic

As one of the most unique players in NBA history, Nikola Jokic won his second MVP in a row last season. Each year, he becomes increasingly more efficient.

The Joker is a center who can pass like Magic Johnson. That is a gift that has rarely been seen before in the NBA, if ever. Jokic is the best passing center in the NBA; he is arguably the best passer out of all players.

Jokic continues to improve every year. If the Nuggets can stay healthy next year, they should be contenders in the West under the leadership of their best player.

3. LeBron James

The Kid from Akron has held the crown of being the best player in the NBA for the last decade. As he nears retirement, he is still doing unbelievable things, but it is not always translating into success.

LeBron James averaged 30.3 points per game last season, but the Lakers missed the playoffs. The fact that the Lakers have stayed relevant is a testament to the skill level and excellence of LeBron. People know that if he makes the playoffs, then he is a threat to win the NBA championship, even at the age of 37.

2. Kevin Durant

His time in Brooklyn has been shaky to say the least, but there is no denying that Kevin Durant is a top-three player in the NBA. Durant is a gifted scorer who can give you 30 points at will. He has grown as a leader while earning an MVP, four scoring titles, and two championships throughout his career so far.

Kevin Durant’s trade request has the entire NBA on its heels. Every team knows that Durant is a generational talent that would instantly make their team a title contender. Wherever Durant goes, he will certainly have a chance to win his third championship next season.

1. Giannis Antetokoumpo
The Greek Freak has earned the recognition as the best player in the NBA. At the age of 27, Giannis Antetokoumpo has already won two MVPs, one NBA championship, a Defensive Player of the Year Award, and the Most Improved Player Award.
Giannis already has a Hall-of-Fame resume, and he will likely add to what he has already accomplished. He is an unstoppable force on both ends of the floor. He is the most dominant player in the NBA right now. He should remain one of the top players in the NBA for the rest of the decade.
